Vice President of Development
AgEagle is looking to expand our leadership team in Boulder, CO to improve upon our software platforms, namely HempOverview, a web-based data collection and scalable management app married with the power of map-based aerial imaging technology for use by state hemp program administrators, processors and growers to best manage registration, compliance and enforcement in domestic hemp cultivation; and ParkView, an aerial imaging-based data collection and management solution for use by municipal parks and recreations departments to better inform green infrastructure maintenance, irrigation cost management and natural resource preservation of urban green spaces.
This work includes interacting with customers, sales personnel, and our growing team of software engineers to build specifications that will guide the development of our data products generated from satellite and drone imagery. This position will include extensive interaction with the collecting and understanding of market research and our marketing messaging working in close collaboration with our clients and other related stakeholders to customize our solutions to meet their specific needs and objectives. This role will provide direction and guidance on how the market is moving what new technologies and frameworks will enhance the value of our solutions in a variety of agriculturally-focused business opportunities. This role will report directly to the CEO.
To be successful in this role, the right candidate will understand the technology stack and be collaborative with the broader team. It is essential you are able to discuss how improvements and changes can be delivered to meet with customers goals and outline the resources that will be needed to achieve success. The current stack is built with a Ruby on Rails web application, Angular front-end, and a backend development environment that would involve utilizing a multitude of technologies including, but not limited to, GDAL, image stitching software systems and PostGIS. The entire stack is geospatially informed which means working with various libraries that manipulate geospatial data. Working with third parties to improve our software analytics by communicating with JSON APIs is critical.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about his or her work and instill drive and accountability in the team with the aim of achieving high performance while creating a company environment of creativity and collaboration to effectively solve industry problems.
You will be expected to participate in an agile development cycle with daily stand-ups and collaborate with our on staff engineers, along with other team members, to make sure we are building the most valuable solutions for our customers. This role will have a direct impact on the product roadmap and future versions of our product platforms.
Bachelor’s degree preferably in a computer science-related field or equivalent work experience
Experience managing a team through collaboration in an Agile development environment
Ability to translate business requirements into customized technical solutions
Experience with Git
Additional Bonus Skills:
Experience designing and testing intuitive user interfaces
Experience with MySQL or PostgreSQL and manipulating a database
Familiarity with the various technologies that come with AWS, the least of which being EC2
Knowledge of data science especially geospatial datasets
Excellent verbal and written communication with the willingness to use them
Excellent attention to detail, organizational and multitasking skills
Strong self-direction skills are critical and the ability to work with a small and growing team
Knowledge of the cannabis/hemp cultivation industry
